SLSL "The Small Rain" & references to "The Waste Land" & _A Farewell to Arms_

Close but no cigar -- I'm surprised to see so much
bandwidth used to rehash some obvious points about
'The Waste Land' and _A Farewell to  Arms_, without
relating them to "The Small Rain".  But, all
contributions are welcome here, however meagre. 


The invitation still stands:  Anybody want to comment
on the references to 'The Waste Land' and _A Farewell
to 
Arms_  that Pynchon says he worked into "The Small
Rain" ?
