I don't know Christensen's work, but surely there
are many among the speculated candidates who won't
deserve the prize on any account. I took up DeLillo
because he, arguably, operates in TRP's backyard
but is way beyond our man's league.

Besides DeLillo, Joyce Carol Oates seems quite hot
now. Oates whose magnum opus _Blondie_ is terrible
and patronizing past telling. Why not rather choose,
say, Susan Howe from among US women of letters -
especially if they are after a poet now?
