"But the world isn't like that"

Honestly Barbara, I haven't. What I've heard from Peter Struck (our Minister
of Defence Mr. Rumsfeld refused to talk to at Warsaw, very childish imo) is
that there were none in the papers Mr. Blair had presented.

But I said "if" and *if* there are any Hussein should be treated as I've
said. But the evidences should be presented to the world, and they should be
plain and clear.

Letting people die of hunger and diseases and blaming the sanctions is one
thing a murderous tyrant can do to save money to acquire nuclear material
(which is on the black market since the breakdown of the Soviet empire).

Iraq's vice-präsident Taha Jassin Ramadan calls Israel an "illegal zionist
thing" on today's DER SPIEGEL website
http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/0,1518,218234,00.html
and we should be very much concerned about Israel's security if it comes to
war. The whole interview is very revealing because Mr. Ramadan admits the
crimes against the Iraqi minorities. I'd like to see Iraq's leaders before
The Hague court. Iraq has too much oil to let it in the hands of a murderous
regime that is striving to threaten its neighbours with weapons of mass
destruction. It's been an error of George Bush the elder that Saddam Hussein
hasn't been removed after the Kuwait-invasion. It's been a missed
opportunity.

What I am actually critisizing is that the congress decision "sends a
message to the UN" (as Mr. Bush the younger has said), that it will be
bypassed if it doesn't fulfil the will of the current US-government. This
cannot be. I may be formalistic (right word? help me out) but this is not
the way the world's leaders should be treated by a single country, even if
it's the only one remaining superpower. I'm afraid that the worldwide
stability will be affected if the USA encounter another Vietnam which will
happen if an action takes place that isn't backed fully by the United
Nations.

I think flags and hymnes are relicts from the 19th century, maybe right in
soccer matches but inappropriate in a globalized world where national
boundaries have lost their meaning.
I like "Amazing Grace" but not the "Star Sprangled Banner".

Otto
