U.S. Bases out of Germany and Japan

Not sure if Schröder brought this issue up during the last
election, but isn't it about time the Allies declared WW II
over and de-mob'd from these two pro-western countries?
I mean, isn't it just a little annoying to be occupied, at this late
date. Even Greece and Italy seem to have mustered enough
courage to raise the issue of their sovereignty, vis-a-vis,
U.S. bases. What's up?
