It really didn't take a critc like Hite to figure that one out.

Totally agree.  The real mystery is why Winsome doesn't divorce her.  
Winsome comes accross as a nice guy, but totally passive, used by everyone, 
and abused by Mafia.  Mafia is completely self-absorbed and care not a lick 
about anybody else.  For being a parody of an author who esposed the virtues 
of selfishness, she fits the bill well.
