theater of terrorism: follow the bouncing ball

The final page of GR, waiting for the missile to drop
in the movie theater, has come to mind several times
today, prompted by news reports of the unfortunate.
It's the double whammy:  anxiety sparked by the fear
of being the victim of a terrorist attack somewhere
along the path through daily life, we remain hostages
of the Bomb (and the government that chooses to use it
as a threat) as we watch a pornography of "life" spool
out on the screen of that Cartesian theater (next door
to the Man's branch office in each of our brains,
perhaps).  Reach out and touch the person next to you,
Pynchon's advice still serves.
