I think your use of the term "nerve gas" may be a bit premature.  We don't know
what the gas was, but it didn't cause the symptoms usually associated w/ nerve
gas ("blistering, convulsions or internal bleeding" according to the NYT).  I
don't think the military intended all those deaths, but neither did it do much
to preclude them it appears.

It is sad.
