I know. It's all my fault. Have you changed your mind about the "good old
days" of this list never having existed?
I just last week finished Moby Dick, and I posted a few passages along the way
to this list that I thought "resonated" with Pynchon's work. I read it because
I wanted the background perspective on fiction, especially American fiction,
and I had proposed a group read of it for this list, but SLSL prevailed. As
for substantial discussion here, often we see a series of monologues, sometimes
with great content, but not necessarily of general P-list interest or knowledge
(or, dare I say, language). On-topic "discussion" is more likely to occur
during a group read when all here are on the "same page" (i hate that term).
So your aborted posts might or might not have struck a chord for discussion.
That is not necessarily an indictment of this list.
As for the rest of this crap, and whose "fault" it is, your call is your call.
I've said enough about it for now.
