Perhaps any explanation of why P creates these histories must also
address how he creates them, but for all I know he could have written
chapter 74 as straight forward conventional narrative then ripped it in
pieces and tossed it in the air...picked it up and pasted it back
together... and...tossed in some dreams, insanity, irony, fragments and
loose threads from the previous 73 chapters, some facts, some
subjunctives and other moods and...a little contradiction, a little
speculation...a little magic and music and... WAM!
No, I'm just being silly. Thanks for the notes and the replies. It's a
very marvelous chapter. I will have to spend more time on it, but school
is fast approaching, my daughter will home from Colombia, Luz too, she
wanting the air conditioners put away, a new desk and computer, and I've
been nursing a rotator cuff injury, but must get back in the pool soon.
No more time for Pynchon and the P-List. Whatever you all decide to read
next, good luck. Been through them all now. As Jerry Springer says, Take
care of each other.
Peace out,
Terry
