"Christian Theology" is a diverse flock of birds which has very few
"fundamentals." Christ's resurrection is about the only one I can think of.
But as for continued existence after death, Christianity is all over the map,
and this is especially so for Roman Catholics. RC's believe in an immediate
transition upon death to another form of existence. For some this means hell.
For others Purgatory, Limbo, or Heaven.

Protestants, too, are all over the map, but many protestants believe that they
"sleep" (but without dreaming) between their personal death and the future
Resurrection. In fact, according to that same theology, the only person yet to
be resurrected is Christ. All others are waiting "asleep" in the grave.
