The English lyrics became exceeding well known and popular after 1939 but
Artie Shaw didn't use them in his hit recording.  One unusual thing on the
record is that in addition to the usual big dance band instruments he used
eight violins,  three violas, and two cellos.
It was an experiment in the use of large string sections in dance bands. It
sounded very good but was too expensive as a general practice.
