As I noted to Vince, I grew up in Eureka, and I agree with you. One of my
best friends had one of the panel vans modified into an RV, and went so far
as to have flower boxes attached underneath the side windows. It was nothing
for someone to make their own camper shell. One was always seeing this sort
of vehicle on 101.

As I read the book, I was trying to figure out which town Pynchon
fictionalized and the best I can come up with is Garberville, or maybe
Willits. What do you think? Or has this already been covered?
