Dear sir or madam--

Perhaps you're already familiar with it, but I believe
this passage from Thomas Pynchon's novel, Vineland
(Boston: Little, Brown, 1990) might be of interest ...

   "'Check it out, Freckles!  Here--'71 Louis Martini,
ne?  A legend!  And this one's--some kind of French
stuff!'" (Ch. 9, p. 191)

Any information on your "legendary" 1971 vintages, and
perhaps which wine in particular is the likely
referent here, would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
