Actually, the "picked fight" comment was mine. It was the basis of my
paranoid Rhode Island parody. We are in complete agreement here.
One of the messages of GR, and also Vineland, was the impact of global
machinations on the lives of the innocent, or guilty, people caught up in
the maelstrom.
I'm surprised by your Friday night reference. Weekends are for dilettantes,
amateurs, and the bourgeoisie.
