We can not convince list members to stop posting links that have nothing
at all to do with Pynchon. We can not convince list members to abide by
the only rule that the list owners have provided us. We can not prevent
list members from sending us URLs and links just because they expect
that we might enjoy them or be offended by them (or at least some of us
might, although now we are being inundated with URLS with no
introduction or comments again so it's hard to tell what they may be).
We can not convince list members that any Pynchon related topic does not
include anti-Semitic web pages or pornographic links. This is not a
moderated list. As far as we know, the majority of subscribers (active
and lurkers) do not want a moderated list.

Who is we?

Me and my parrot Pavlov.

Anyway, this list is not a clique. It is not a chat room for debating
current events.
It is the Pynchon List. We can discuss politics or tv or movies or music
and lots of other stuff if we can include Pynchon. We need to stick to
Pynchon & TV, Pynchon & American foreign policy, Pynchon and the Middle
East, Pynchon & music, and so on. Posting naked URLS, as Proz and Doug
have today, is going to cause a serious flame feast. The single rule
provided by the list owners has served us well thus far. We are loosing
some good people and we have frightened off a few that all of us, I'm
pretty sure, would like to hear from. To attract new people and new
ideas, to maintain a plural and open discussion of Pynchon we need to
respect the Pynchon List rule.
