Again, of course we can't have a Pynchon list without politics. No one
has said that they want to or that we can. But we can't have a Pynchon
list without Pynchon. And we should not turn this list over to the those
that want to make it a chat room clique for discussing and debating the
political issue in the headlines. We can all read the newspapers. We can
all debate and discuss the political issues in the headlines elsewhere.
This is the only Pynchon list. When people subscribe to this list they
come here expecting to discuss Pynchon. But if Pynchon is not being
discussed because the political issues of the day are being discussed in
a chat room calling itself a Pynchon list, people lurk and leave. You've
participated on other lists. So have I. In fact, I'm on several lists
with several members of this list. This is the only list where a chat
room for political debate dominates discussion. It needs to stop. Sorry.
