I apologize to all the non-NYC/non-UK p-listers for this irrelevant
interruption, but I have an offer that I thought might be of interest to at
least some of my Pynchonian friends who care about literature and theatre
(which means all of you!).
My theater company, Verse Theater Manhattan, is about to go to England for a
10 day tour of major English universities. We'll be performing WAR MUSIC --
our all-female adaptation of a section of Homer's Iliad. This is from the
version of the epic by Christopher Logue, one of the great wild men of
modern British verse; it's a dazzling, visceral version of the poem, if I do
say so myself. Plus the actresses are hot!
At 8PM this Saturday, March 1st, we're going to be having a benefit
performance to launch the tour at Baruch College's Engelmann auditorium.
Public tickets are $50/$25 -- and if you want to come and can afford the
ticket, great! -- but I am able to offer the hard-typing bohemians of the
Pynchon list the special student discount of $10 a seat. Just mention the
P-list when you buy your ticket. Anyone who shows up with our fellow New
Yorker TRP himself in tow gets in at no charge!!
More info is copied below. E-mail me for a reservation. UK list members:
the complete UK show list is copied just below the Baruch info. Check with
the individual universities for ticket prices: some of them are free!
Hoping to meet at least a few of you in person this Saturday.
Best,
Richard Ryan
