I'm anxiously awaiting Mr. T's take on the topic,
whether Friedman's grasp of world affairs exceeds
Pynchon's, whenever Mr. T is ready to write about
Pynchon instead of about me.

To my way of thinking, F doesn't deserve to be
mentioned in the same breath as Pynchon, not as a
writer, and certainly not as a journalist. Pynchon's
articles in the New York Times are more interesting
than Friedman's, and Pynchon has the advantage of not
being an apologist for the US sacrifice of innocent
civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I guess interested P-listers can go to Friedman-L for
a more detailed online discussion (surely there must
be at least one for a writer of F's stature?) of the
award-winning writer's works -- they're probably still
going over the details of the PR junket that took
Friedman to Google to write about the future of the
Internet in an puff piece called "Is Google God?" that
suggests another question, How many shares of Google
stock will Friedman own after Google's IPO? The timing
of Friedman's recent column makes it look as if could
be part of the PR run-up to this feverishly-expected
event (http://news.com.com/2010-1071_3-1018220.html),
and he gives a great plug to a Wi-Fi start-up company,
too, probably the result of a successful campaign by
the company's PR team to lobby Friedman.
