"Peculiar"? Given the themes of the novel, it's an
entirely appropriate--I'd say perfect--title.
However, as a title chosen by Shade for his poem, it
provides a small hint (perhaps), as to how Nabokov
views the poet he's created and, as we get further
into the novel, this opens further doors into the
endlessly mirroring discussion of internal authorship.
