I believe not. He was asked at least once about
Pynchon and Barth and others who might be seen as
writers he had influenced, but claimed not to be
familiar with their writing; nor did he, when asked,
remember Pynchon from Cornell.
Vera (in an account that, I believe, has been
challenged) remembered Pynchon's handwriting (from
Cornell) as a combination of written and printed
letters.
