_Stone Junction_ Intro question

Foax:

My copy of Jim Dodge's _Stone Junction_ -- the UK publisher Canongate's
edition of 2002 -- introduces an ambiguity on page x of Pynchon's
"Introduction": it uses "Pearce" twice for the surname of Daniel and
Annalee, whereas the first two lines of the book identify them as "Pearse."

Can anyone check their version of the intro and see if this is a singular
screwup or if it is wider spread? Seems to me a real lack of
control/attention in the publishing process and it would be a bit of a
shocker if all (or even a few) editions made the blunder and it could
therefore be imputed to Pynchon, sted of some editor or proofreader or
editorial assistant u.s.w. somewhere.

Kinbotically, of course, it leaves me not knowing what their names are, as
the only mentions of Pearce/Pearse are in the Intro and on page one (so far,
anyway ... am only 40 pages into _Stone Junction_ ...). For now I am
trusting the author of the novel on this one, not TRP.

O-or maybe MY copy is the ONLY one with this "pearced" inverse rarity....

thnx.
