Indeed.  But knowing full well what might ensue were
we to go ahead and do Vineland, I'd still love to have
an incentive to give it a good rereading (as opposed
to the bad reading I gave it on publication), not to
mention to join in in force again here (though i still
have a few things to say about that "Foreword," when i
get the chance ...).  But as that David Thoreen essay
demonstrates, there's an awful lot of possibly
controversial but nonetheless factual elements alone
to take into account in Vineland.  And y'all are going
to argue about whatever you're going to argue about no
matter what's ostensibly under discussion here, so ...
