Primarily I don't care for the hypocrisy of a small
group of P-listers who regularly criticize me for what
they call "off topic" posts, while at the same time
promoting a discussion that doesn't -- from the little
that's been said about the project so far -- seem to
have much if anything to do with Pynchon. This
demonstrates the arbitrary, logic-free nature of
judgements of "off topic" and "on topic" in this
forum. I can't stop a Pale Fire reading and I haven't
tried to do that -- I've raised questions about this
project, and I do observe quite a few of you seem
pretty "twitchy" about discussing the issues that such
a group reading of a Nabokov novel raises for
Pynchon-L.
