I "read" PF at the turn of the nineties when writing a
passage on the fantastic aspects (à la Tzvetan Todorov,
Rosemary Jackson) of Lot 49 for my Master's Thesis, and
stumbling on Beverly Lyon Clark's Reflections of Fantasy.

You guys may not believe it, but my English was then
even(!) worse than it is now. Quite a bit worse, truth
to tell. There is still no Finnish translation. Funny
thing, my reading of it overlapped with that of Vineland
which I read in February '90 and, at the time, found much
easier (and worse).

So, my current image of PF is somewhat similar to Pierre
Menard's image of Don Quijote when he started to write
Don Quijote.

And I think I'll reread it and be with you PFPFers at
least in spirit.

And read Vineland for the third time, time permitting.
