Well I thought Jaspers' idea of a double read was a good one, but if this is
the way you want to do it, I'm game. But think about converting this schedule
to a quicker paced double read, 'cause I don't think our typical schedule is
best for PF.
In addition, Paul Mackin had some good thought about how to do this:
<<<My suggestions for what they are worth are as follows:
No need to devote two weeks of discussion to "Foreword." It's short. I
assume everyone knows it's part of the story. There is no real Kinbote
or whatever his name turns out to be. All information that is necessary
to understand at this early point is easily evident. What is not
evident will become so early enough. So, just everyone read "Foreword."
We shouldn't try to discuss the poem apart from "Commentary." This would
be like reading "Introduction" apart from the stories. The two are
inseparable. I'd recommend everyone do a very quick read through the
poem for the general sense of it. It's actually a lot of fun, though
quite sad. If you don't understand a line, look in "Commentary" for a
possible clue. If you still don't understand it doesn't matter. You will
understand enough.
How we might attack "Commentary" is something I'm still thinking about.>>>
But if you still want to do it with the schedule below, I've added my name, and
I'll add it again further down when we get closer to the commentary.
