That's right, as I have described the book earlier on
Pynchon-L, today and previously.  _Firebrands_ teaches
brand managers how to use the Internet to induce
specific, profit-generating forms of customer
behavior. It's a subject in which I have some
expertise.

Pynchon's insight remains on the money:  the Internet
offers forms of social control that Orwell could only
dream about.
