"Here let it be noted that George W. Bush, the
President of the United
States, constantly wears a ring on his left ring
finger, which when
enlarged
proves to be the very same magical ring from the Lord
of the Rings."

I wonder, is the author of the Last Trumpet Call piece
realy much more "far out" than our President and other
Americans who believe as he does? If we are to believe
the people close to him, Bush believes he's in daily
contact with God and that God is guiding his own
career as well as US foreign policy (see the recent
cover story in Newsweek, the one with the cover photo
of Bush in prayer).

"But Jonnie Miller, 56, a hardy, crew-cut preacher and
owner of L & M Backhoe, which specializes in cleaning
up spills in the oil fields, worries about war and a
loss of lives. 'The Scripture says God placed
President Bush in office to take care of us,' he said,
'and my job is to pray for those in power to make
godly decisions.' "

Ol' Jonnie wouldn't be out of place in a Pynchon
novel...
