Pynchon Interview Playboy Japan -- Translation Questions

The following questions come to mind after having typed that "interview":

1.  When was the Playboy Japan article published?  There is no publication date on the copy I have? 

2.  Is it just me, or does the whole bin Laden angle seem kinda passe these days?

3.  For those of you who are more fluent in Pynchon's style, do you notice any stylistic nuances that seem typically "Pynchonian"?  (Acknowledging, of course, that this is a very rough translation.)

4.  Does the politics as expressed in this piece seem consistent with that conveyed in his established works?

5.  Do you find the whole "bin Laden as symbol" motif consistent with Pynchon's treatment of characterization thoughout his canon?
