So instead, we should substitute your revision of the statement to fit your
expectation of Pynchon's political beliefs? This makes it sound like you,
not Pynchon.

Even if we were to assume this to be representative of the author's beliefs,
"human elite with no right at all to be where they are" is not, everyone of
some arbitrary net worth, however accumulated.
