I say absurd because the request was "What books should I read?"   Without any
more defining criteria the lists generated have no backbone and are only about
the personal tastes of each contributor.  The one asking the question will have
no means other than trail and error to base his choices from the lists
generated and might as well just go pick a book with the best looking cover.

Of course the question was posed to a group with some pretty highbrow
contributors...
