The question was not "What books should I read?" the question was more
general, and was asked with the intent of finding out what other books
Pynchon fans were reading. The question was not asked so that I could read
each and every book that was recommended, but maybe find a few books that
interested me, and to find a few authors that I was unfamiliar with. There
are means besides trial and error to find out which books would, and would
not interest me. There are book reviews; although they're not the best means
to find out about a book, they certainly tell you something. There are
endless sources on the internet, which would allow one to find out about a
book; it just takes a tiny bit of effort to locate and use them. And, if it
came down to it, I can always pick the book up, read the back cover, flip
through it, and make a decision. Instead of criticizing the question, you
should check out what other people are reading, maybe they'll have something
that interests you.
