1984 and Pynchon

Hi all--

I just ordered a copy of the new edition with
Pynchon's intro--it has allowed me to overlook and put
on hold for later reading all the tug of wars going on
hereabouts re: Pynchon's re-emergence. i guess that's
a blessing.

I do hope, along with Doug, that somehow this intro
will give us some inkling into Pynchon's next
fictional offering.

In the meantime, I'm reading The Hilbert Challenge by
Jeremy Gray which is geared towards the general reader
not only to the math heads.

Also, enjoying Niall Ferguson's Empire which is pretty
balanced view of rise and fall Britain's empire.
Ferguson seems to be addressing his American readers
specifically in these times of US hegemony. Fancily
packaged, too--nice color plates. e.g.
