Did you finish Down by the River?

Wonder what you thought.  Toward the end I found
myself wishing for a more straightforward style, but
I've nevertheless been recommending it.  And, as well,
the impressionistic style often worked.   

I found the dimensions of the situation--the
staggering numbers and the depth and reach of the
corruption to be eye-glazing.
