This is exactly what makes it all the more interesting that he makes several
explicit references to contemporary events, making three of them all the
more explicit by prefacing them with 'circa 2003,' yet makes no explicit
reference to 9/11. It can't be just because he doesn't want to date the
Foreword, because he dates it three times.
