Charles H. writes many off-list posts and it's sometimes difficult to
reply to these and still remain on friendly terms with him. I
discovered this years ago. If one is at all concerned about such
matters one is well advised not to question the worthiness or validity
of his Pynchon scholarship. Personally I'm NOT concerned and this is NOT
a complaint.
