What Pynchon wrote?

But isn't Pynchon pretty much saying in the Foreword that' we're living in
fascistic times? I mean, not that you'd believe him even if he was, but
isn't he?
The only reason I say it--besides all the textual support--is because I gave
it to my boyfriend to read this weekend and that was his first gut reaction.
Of course told him about our p-list antics and recent subjects of debate,
and tried diligently to get him to say he saw THE 9/11 ALLUSION!
SAY IT! SAY YOU SEE THE LIGHT!
But all he would say was, "All the guy is trying to say is we're living in
fascistic times."
So is that Pynchon's Foreword to 1984 in a nutshell?

This country isn't close to fascism. Such talk--"the fact that we can have
these discussions"--is hyperventilated and juvenile.
There are some disturbing, overly imperialist notions among those that
inform
the current adminstration; they deserve concern and they are not escaping
comment.
