Given the rhapsodizing of some of you all regarding the Orwell/Pynchon 
google discussion, I checked it out. I saw nothing of especial interest, to 
me anyhow, though there were a couple of comments there, as here, 
disparaging the Internet-as-social-control bit--oh no, they say, quite the 
contrary, the Internet will set us all free, or some such. I'm mystified 
that generally intelligent folks on this list or that can't or won't 
understand or admit that the Internet has the potential to be floor wax _or_ 
dessert topping--or possibly, likely even, as are other media, both at once.
