I've found that my keyboard makes for a good head-basher, and the vidscreen is
good for an anchor at the end of my dog's leash.

But really, Pynchon's comment about the dangers of the internet are way off
base. The internet is the Zone, man. It's the Wild West, dude. Someone may
be able to compile info about you if you let them, but there are always
enterprizing and smart folks out there comming up with claoking devices and
counter-measures. If you're a member of the underground you'd better be smart
enough to cover your tracks, or you'd better just not use the internet.

google discussion, I checked it out. I saw nothing of especial interest, to me
anyhow, though there were a couple of comments there, as here, disparaging the
Internet-as-social-control bit--oh no, they say, quite the contrary, the
Internet will set us all free, or some such. I'm mystified that generally
intelligent folks on this list or that can't or won't understand or admit that
the Internet has the potential to be floor wax _or_ dessert topping--or
possibly, likely even, as are other media, both at once.
