VLVL2 (9): A Thowaway Poem ...

134.2:  "Drink rye . . ."

This sentence has a certain poeticism to it, yet isn't versed as such:
 
Drink rye, 
wipe her glasses on her tie,
Leave her hat on indoors, 
Gossip in the dim light with the other regulars.

For someone like Pynchon, who incorporates song lyrics into his prose as often as he does, I find this sentence a curiosity.  Also note that we haven't seen much usage of the song lyric within the narrative proper of this novel.  Why?

Don't know that it holds any significance.  Just noticed this, is all.
