That's the way I read it.  That's the way it makes the most sense to me. 
I don't pretend to understand much about the entire Takeshi segment of
the book.  I am at a loss to understand why the lab tests came back as
proving the factory was crushed by a giant lizard.  But that doesn't
negate the fact that Takeshi was described as taking al kinds of drugs
and then "floating" above the floor at the airport, and it seemed like
Pynchon was writing an account of events that occurred inside of
Takeshi's mind as if they were actually happening, a very effective
writing style.

That's my reading and I'm sticking to it.  Your mileage may vary.
