NP--Blood Meridian yet again (no "spoilers," G.Q.!!)

_Blood Meridian, Or the Evening Redness in the West_ is truly an astounding 
book and a great one. Cormac McCarthy's method and his descriptive abilities 
in telling this horrendous story of despicable scum turns a chronicle of 
events as horrible as any into a thing of beauty. The book is not an empty 
intellectual exercise, but rather a stimulus to contemplation and 
examination. Oh, and it has arrows "lofting up in the blue" and then 
"suddenly gaining speed," not to mention pueblo dwellers with "preterite 
lives."

I hope you folks do not begin another discussion of a non-Pynchon book on 
the p-list. But if you must, you could do worse than _Blood Meridian_.
