What has the apologetic look (149.23) to do with the advice DL gives
Prairie? 
It seems to me that in this chapter looks and glances are communication
on a whole nother level. I don't read DL's advice to "Keep and eye on
[Takeshi's] feet" as  martial arts related (or metaphor or analogy). She
gives this advice to Prairie **AS** Takeshi took  Prairie's hand and
leered genially. The look is a mixed signal.  Cultural myths and
misconceptions, cross-cultural miscommunication? Blinded doubles? Is DL
apologetic because she towers over this man or because of what she did
to him? All sorts of possibilities and only one thing for certain and
that is there ain't nothin for sure.
