DL's gesture is sympathetic, not antagonistic. Her comment refers to his
fancy footwork; she's building him up into something because he looks so
lame and ineffectual, and her remark follows on from Prairie's
first-impression reaction to him. The girl scoffs at him and looks him up
and down as if he was a freak (149.14-27).
I don't see the words "leered genially" as equating to a sexual overture at
all. It's more of a stupid grin. And he's the one who suggests skipping over
"the sex part" in deference to Prairie.
