When we meet Takeshi he is wearing Gretchen's wig and a straw hat. The
wig looks like a blond hippie haircut. He has floral bell-bottoms, a
tropical shirt, a dozen plastic leis piled up around his face and
shoulders. Pitch-black goggle-style shades cover his eyes. He is holding
a banjo-ukulele. He hands Zoyd a business card and disappears.
Takeshi likes loud attire. He likes loud attire, drugs, tits and ass
(not
necessarily in that order).
He likes to kid with women, usually with sexual overtones.
He likes to wink at them, lewdly (173) and leer (149).
He calls Prairie and a Puncutech toots (149, 164).
He gropes women (165).
He's a miniskirt man and he likes assertive women (151).
He checks out their bodies (143).
He's a womanizer.
In the West, there are two conflicted stereotypes about Japanese men.
They are asexual. They are hyper sexual.
Takeshi likes T&A enough that he wittingly becomes BV's
decoy (149). His own sleaziness and sexual appetite does him in (158,
159, 161).
Like Zoyd he is hung up on his ex-wife, whom he fell in love
with and married during an extended '60s acid trip.
He takes a lot of drugs and he watched a lot of Tube.
More important to our current discussion, his interpolations, be these
gestures or words, often carry sexual connotation (151, 166,173).
Interpolate: To insert (material) into a text, to insert into a
conversation, to change or falsify (a text) by introducing new or
incorrect material.
