Vineland, DL, Kill Bill

School of Rock is one of the least funny alleged
comedies ever made. See Lost in Translation (perhaps
the best American film of the year so far),
Intolerable Cruelty (surprisingly not spoiled by
success, and George Clooney is great in it) instead.
Of course, I loved Kill Bill (a movie MADE for
annotation, by the way: "The Bionic Woman," Hanzo the
Blade [a.k.a. The Razor], Godard & Romero & blood [red
vs. black], Morricone & Trovajoli & Ortolani & Bacalov
[still not sure what the RZA did but mix all this
stuff], Chiba & Liu, Seijun Suzuki, Battle Royale, all
the other Tarantino films [Red Apple cigarettes, the
trunk scene, "I should have been Black Mamba," et al.,
gotta see it again and watch for Teriyaki Donut], and
note the use of not only the "Green Hornet" theme but
also "Nobody but Me" by The Human Beinz [!!], and
...), but I'd be afraid to recommend it to anyone whow
asn't already a QT fan. We get the Guy Maddin Dracula
this weekend (!!). Off to see Luther (?!) ...
