It's nothing of the sort. DL is saying Prairie will have to trust her own
judgement - in this instant of DL's trustworthiness.
There was a programme on the TV last night - partly about learning to trust
- I heard the comment by the counsellor ..."to build trust you have to take
risks..." That's one of the things happening in this scene, Prairie having
to leap off into the unknown to further her quest. DL is giving the best
advice she can - '...If it feels too weird, don't...'

>So, in your version DL has told Prairie absolutely everything she wants to

Rob this is crass misrepresentation of Paul and Michaels' POV. They see you
finding more failure and betrayal, where they, and I for another, see a
powerful desire on Prairie's part met by cautious engagement on DL's.

Given the line about explaining rape without mentioning sex, DL's lack of
immediate response to Prairie's questions does suggest that she can't, off
the top of her head, think of a suitable way to explain Frenesi's past and
current situation in a way she will be comfortable with. DL is not willing
at this point to take responsibility for the effect her revelations will
have on the 14 year old she has just met. The amateur tap dancer line
emphasises this, Dl can't respond adequately to Prairie's 'blatant
longing'. DL doesn't feel capable of helping Prairie alone, she wants as
much as offers Takeshi's input.
