That's great, Mike. I bet we're all having experiences 'out there,' where
Vineland is crossing the path of the real world. (I received a note about
a high school reunion, and I put down Vomitones in the box beside the
question What music would you like at the reunion? It's just that that's
what I really wanted to hear at that moment, and what I hoped my old
droogies wanted to hear, too.)

It's a risk for Prairie, and it's a risk for DL. There is no reason why
she should want a "kid" in tow, so she is making a leap as well, and this
leap seems intended to contrast with Frenesi's leap out of motherhood. DL
is the reluctant but good mother, Frenesi the passionate but bad mother.
