Mike bites:
There's a little problem with this definition WRT Vineland -  the IWW were 
as often as not opposed to the communists, Sasha is a Trotskyist, and the 
Party was largely irrelevant to Frenesi's generation of US radicals (Angela 
Davis is the only CP member of significance that I can think of from that 
era.) Making the CP the star at the centre of your left-wing system is fine 
as long as you realise that it is a system with few planets and far more 
comets, most of them heading out.
The only periods when the vast majority of the non CP left fell into your # 
3 were 1918-23 and 41-45.
