I gots to axe here.  Is the argument at hand,
esentially, Vineland is critical of, antipathic to the
failure of sixties counterculrure(s), therefore,
Pynchon is conservative?  Versus, say, Vineland is
affirmative of, sympathetic to sixties counterculture,
therefore Pynchon is leftist?  Er, six of one, a half
dozen of the other.  Again, "dissident left" ...
