I do think it wise of Pynchon to stay off the op-ed
page, lecture, and TV talk show circuit, but of course
he's managed to do that all these years without
soliciting my advice.

I'm still puzzled by your need to judge Pynchon so
harshly, given his impact on 20th and 21st century
arts and letters, above and beyond the many pleasures
